Anyone, whether a business, public organization or individual, who has come to the point where they have realized the need for an online presence and their own website has asked themselves this question.
How much does it cost website development?
What do we do? Most often we open our favorite search engine and look for the answer to this question. And we come across several dozen pages of results. We will find prices from 0 /zero/ or 80 lv. to those that reach 5 and 6 digit numbers. Especially if we dig into the procurement history. Bids like "We will design you a 10-page website for 100 BGN that will be on the first page of Google" I don't even want to comment on them. It would be frivolous.
I will answer as a manager and developer at a Web Design Studio, which I am. The production of a quality and optimized website, business card type of 5 main pages costs 1000 BGN. /in short: a thousand levs/.
But why 1000 BGN someone will immediately ask. Well, because 1000 BGN is a round 4-digit amount with three zeros on the back.
The joke aside /we should be a little more serious/. I'll do a breakdown of that arbitrary number 1000 - arbitrary because even a one-page site could cost more. I want to insert a parenthesis here - we are talking about making a quality website!
Take the most common content management system - WordPress. As we know WordPress is a free CMS, there are tens, even hundreds of thousands of themes and modules, most of which are free.
I'm starting the breakdown back-to-front, we'll find out why at the end:
- For starters, we'll need a quality premium theme let's say Astra /you will find it in 9 out of 10 WP theme charts/ - the price for a single license is $59 or 103 lv. at the current exchange rate. Someone will say that the theme has a free version, but you know - free is just the cheese in the mousetrap 😉
- Well yes, but we want a dynamic website where we can control and change every detail without having to change or add a picture to call a programmer - nothing easier, we put a page builder Elementor. It has a free version, but we want something more so we buy PRO - here the price for a single license for 1 year is $49 or 85.75 lv.
- We want our website to be very fast, to load in under 1 sec. and to position well in Google, so we include on-page optimization - 250 BGN.
- Domain and hosting for 1 year to put them an average of 100 BGN, but it will be a little difficult to fit in this amount given the new pricing policy of c-panel.
- We want an individual design for our site so that we do not get constant deja vu as we surf the net and to distinguish ourselves from our competitors - price 250 BGN. /let's not forget the mobile version - an absolute must in these times/
Let's see how much it became so far - 103+86+250+100+250 = 789 BGN. /in short: seven hundred and eighty-nine leva/
We were left with 211 BGN. What goes into them - free WordPress, free ready-made theme and 5-6 pages of text + labor to put them together into something called a website. Sound familiar? Yep - that's roughly what the mainstream offers are for making a quick website with a ready-made design.
Every developer, be it a company or a freelancer, has the sacred right to set their own prices and pricing policy. The above prices, excluding theme and page builder are Sample and in no way do not engage me or the company I represent. They are the result of a representative study that each of you could do yourself by delving into the search engine results looking for the services mentioned.
How much you spend on your future website is up to you.
The factors that influence us are many - opportunities, budget, attitudes, etc. But let's not forget one thing - our website is our face and body on the web. How do you want to look - presentable, tight and sleek or untucked in an early 90's style Adidas tracksuit?
